OPTIONS 2014 Breaks Records (Again!)

On Sunday, while many of us were focused on the Chargers losing to the Denver Broncos, nearly 1000 Jewish women -- the largest gathering in the history of San Diego -- were riveted by listening to Dr. Ruth Westheimer talk – of course about sex, but about her own Jewish journey as well. The world-renowned sex therapist was the keynote speaker of OPTIONS 2014, the centerpiece of the Federation's Women's Philanthropy campaign.

Dr. Ruth, who was sent from her native Berlin to Switzerland on a kindertransport in 1939, went on to serve as a sniper in the Haganah during Israel’s War of Independence. She made a few faces turn red when she told the crowd that, just by looking at them, she could tell who was sexually satisfied and who wasn't. She also made a point of telling the crowd that she firmly believes that those who are not philanthropically generous don’t have good sex!

The event, a huge success for the Federation every year, helps support Jewish communities in San Diego, in Israel, and throughout the world.
